Freshie Friday

To kick off September, we’d like to introduce Re-Annimator, who’s been with the league since March of this year.  

Re-Annimator has shown determined dedication to learning her Minimum Skills Required to play roller derby. Her persistence is certainly paying off, as we’ve all watched her make strides on the track. We love having her around and we can’t wait to see her make it to bout level!

How did you first discover roller derby?  I totally fell in love with the  movie Whip It 10 years ago. I then saw my first bout 3 years ago in Redwood City, and finally had the courage to try out roller skating/derby.  

What is your favorite thing about roller derby? So many things, but to name a few — the Undead Bettys are pretty cool peeps, everyone is so helpful and encouraging!  Roller derby pushes me physically, and gets me outside my comfort zone. 

Do you have a derby name? If yes, what is it and how did you come up with it? Re-Annimator– it’s a play on my name, and also a classic (and campy) zombie flick.  

What do your friends and family think of you playing roller derby? You what??? 

What do you do in “real” life? I lead a team of Construction project managers

What are your non-derby hobbies?  Running, travel, beer-snobbing and spending time with my boys.
